I remember the first time I bumped into Jim on a night out, being fascinated by how he held court and his old-school words of wisdom.
"Bring me a front page, I'll give you a job."
Nearly delivered the front page. Ended up on a boat. Long story.
Condolences to Lindy & family.
Yesterday my wonderful friend Paul Conroy @reflextv died of a heart attack. After years taking pictures and reporting in some of the world’s most dangerous places, he was visiting family in Devon. All of us who knew and loved him are devastated. He was 61.
Prominent representatives from the Normandy region of France have been hosted by @Mayor_MEA in Carrickfergus - as part of Mid and East Antrim Borough Council’s plans to celebrate European Year of the Normans (Millenium 2027).

@BantamDxn No one should be forced - no point in performative gestures (which the whole night became). I don't agree with the player, but letting him step aside makes more sense. Expecting a charity that supports marginalised people to endorse marginalising them further is wildly tone deaf.

@sophielouisecc You only need to look at the state of X - and yes other platforms are as bad, but since we're here - to see that many adults, parents included, are in no position to be teaching anyone how to conduct themselves online.

On his last day as @BelTel editor, Eoin Brannigan reflects on five & a half remarkable years - which began from his home in Dublin amid lockdown, involved legal victories, and ultimately transformed the paper for the better with 16,500 paying subscribers.

@TheKopWatch I can't fathom why in a level of professional sport where mentality matters Mo clearly needing time to get his head straight has been allowed to spiral down and develop into a situation where it feels to him like punishment. It feels like this could have been handled much better.
What a great thing to get to be a little part of, visiting St Patrick's College in Ballymena with Waterford actor Jamie Beamish as part of the Creative Communities on a Shared Island project by Mid & East Antrim Borough Council and Waterford City & County Council.
Derry Girls and Bridgerton star Jamie Beamish has been speaking about the importance of showing young people they can have fulfilling careers in the arts, as he delivered a workshop to students in Mid and East Antrim.

Yeesh. I mean, logic or a shred of familiarity with it suggests hockey's UK growth and popularity with women led to the rise of those "books", not the other way round. Getting a notion, being told you're wrong and cracking on anyway isn't journalism. 🙄

I recall Belfast traffic chaos being blamed on commuters not using public transport... £17.50 return for the privilege of standing crushed in a metal box for the guts of an hour while passengers breathed through their ears to allow the train doors to close. Wasn't even rush hour.
Next year would have marked 20 years in journalism for me, but after a media career that's taken me from radio to TV, print and digital, tonight I'm signing off on my final @BelTel shift and getting ready for a new chapter away from news. Don't think it's sunk in yet!
