I’m ready to follow through on these objectives, despite the efforts of those who are determined to preserve a failing system that promises more of the same: declining test scores at ever increasing costs.
The choice before lawmakers in 2026 is clear: show courage by working together to keep moving forward with our bipartisan plan or explain to why yet another double-digit tax increase is acceptable, and why we’ll continue to see them well into the future if we abandon our efforts.
The Tax Department released its annual forecast of the education property tax rate, which once again shows, without intervention from Montpelier and/or school boards reducing spending growth, Vermonters will face an average 12% increase next year.
“It would appear those who didn’t fulfill their obligation are okay with the ever-increasing property taxes and the cost of education, and they don’t want to see change, at least not immediately." - @GovPhilScott

Congratulations to all of the officers who were elected yesterday at the @VTGOP Reorganization, including our own Rep. @zacharyjharvey who was elected Vice Chairman! Congratulations Zak!!
It is the honor of a lifetime to be elected as the Vice Chairman of the @VTGOP. The work begins now and I look forward to helping recruit candidates, raise funds, and do the work necessary to position us for success in 2026. I am humbled, and grateful, by the faith placed in me by my fellow delegates and look forward to expanding our movement.
One of the many things I love about Vermont is the sense of community and neighbors helping neighbors. Yesterday, I had the opportunity to spend some time at Casella’s annual Wheels for Warmth. What an incredible event that helps keep Vermonters safe on our roads and warm in their homes during the winter. A strong showing from the Rutland County delegation and @GovPhilScott!
Today, I announced my short-term action plan to address some of the challenges facing Burlington. This outlines additional actions to hold individuals accountable and connect them with services they need, help revitalize the downtown Burlington area, and more.
Excited to announce … Legislators at the Lake! Join me and fellow legislators at the Lake Bomoseen Lodge as we recap the 2025 session and look ahead to 2026!
Thank you to @AFPhq for your partnership and hosting the event.
See you at the lake!

🚨 Democrats in Crisis 🚨
Voters aren't walking away from the Democratic Party — they are running!
📊 @GOP gained 4.5M+ new voters
📉 Democrats lost ground in every state that tracks registration
✅ Republicans lead new voter registration for the first time since 2018
Vermont saw this trend first-hand in 2024 where we led the nation with the most Republican gains in any state legislature.
Great reporting from @ShaneGoldmacher and @nytimes.

Burlington is on the brink. The current situation has been years in the making at the hands of the city’s mayor and its city council. Citizens and businesses are pleading for help — when will Burlington’s leaders answer their cries and address this public safety crisis?
Powerful statement from Public Safety Commissioner Morrison who leads the @VTStatePolice.

For too long, Vermonters have been promised affordability with no real help. That changes now.
I am proud to partner with @AFPhq on their Vermont Affordability Tour. They’ve built real roots here — showing up at community events, standing alongside our neighbors, and working tirelessly to make Vermont more affordable.
Thank you to @WCAX_Cutler and @wcax for covering this important initiative.
BIG news following the @VTGOP's Committee meeting over the weekend. @Dame4VT announced a brand new website for the @VTGOP! Another great step as the Party positions itself for 2026. Check it out and get involved today:

I'm thankful for all those that voted to elect me last fall and those who have come out this evening to support us. We made great gains this past year. We all need to stay engaged to ensure we continue those gains next year to achieve affordability for Vermonters.

Advocates launch campaign to tackle Vermont’s affordability crisis
“The group says decades of tax hikes, regulatory hurdles, and slow wage growth are driving families out of the state and making it harder for those who remain to make ends meet.”
