Football has one built-in lie detector: film.
It's collecting receipts every snap.
It doesn't care about your excuses.
It exposes laziness, weak effort, bad technique, poor communication, and a lack of finish.
The truth is on the tape. Always.
@CoachRosholt One coach at umpire spot. Db coaches can stand in the end zone or the sideline. I use my linebacker coach and he calls the defense so the kids are used to getting calls from him for JV games when he is the DC. DL on offensive side. Everybody else sideline.
@CoachShiffman A2. Fun. Play some hoops, thinking about a giant game of release, Anything to break the monotony and still get them moving. Lock in for practice and keep it fast paced and moving but conditioning is boring, gotta keep them coming
@Warhogs56 This was my teams “conditioning training today”. Nothing wrong with playing for conditioning. Might play release next week. lol. Easier on the coaches and they get way more work in.
One of the most common issues I’ve seen is:
Offensive linemen taking a great first step… then ruining it with an oversized second step.
The result:
• Loss of power
• Poor balance
• High pads
• Feet stopping on contact
Most young OL think they have to hurry and "reach” the defender.
In reality, the best ones get the 2nd step down quickly and arrive under control.
Shorter. Faster. More powerful.
The first two steps can make or break a block.
We’ve got to put an end to treating every level below D1 like it’s not worth your time.
Like it’s not something to be extremely proud of.
Playing at ANY level after high school is extremely hard, I don’t think people truly grasp that.
Players,
If your coach moves you to a different position, don’t take it personally.
He’s probably not moving you away from the field, he’s trying to find the spot that gives you the best chance to get on it.
Trust the process. Compete.

@pestctrlguy Go to your local HS football coach. Ask for their hardest working guy not going to college or without any plan. Hire them in May. Rinse and repeat.

@jimshapiro My response is usually ok. I let them know what our schedule looks like through the summer and tell them I’d like to see them but if not then we will see you in August.
@CoachShiffman That pull step gotta get into the line. Steal the wallet from the down blockers wallets! Inside out on the hit and work that same leg/same shoulder. On GT the tackle gotta get depth width and vertical with eyes up for penetration before finding second level lead.
@CoachShiffman Jr High Quaker valley. Downfield blocking but got absolutely murdered. HS sophomore scout team guard-linebacker just blasted me cold with a forearm. lol. He was a great linebacker.
Sat in a recruiting meeting once where the conversation about a kid lasted 45 seconds.
His film was good. His measurables checked every box. His grades were fine.
The position coach put his name up, two assistants said "I have heard he is a problem," and the head coach said move on.
45 seconds.
That kid never knew why the offer he expected never came. He spent his whole senior year wondering
what happened.
Coaches are not just building rosters. They are building locker rooms. Every offer is a bet on who you are as a person, not just as a player.
Act accordingly.
@CoachShiffman Not sure about the necessity of working in there but definitely better be seen in the building. That’s where your athletes are that’s where you gotta be.
