We have three fully-funded positions in petrology/geochemistry (two PhD and one Postdoc) at the University of Bern. The goal of this project is to quantify the redox budget and element fluxes triggered by serpentinite dehydration during subduction. https://t.co/5aQ3W4MRX6
We’ve been watching @LavaBombsFilm with our residents we interviewed. Andrea’s buried home lies just across from the rental house we’re at in Las Manchas. We huddled together to see the film. We stopped. We started. We talked. We cried. We spoke. We listened. #fuerzalapalma
Have you seen the @LavaBombsFilm trailer? The La Palma eruption devastated the Canary Islands and changed the lives of so many… Such an important story to tell. @GeoTenerife

Lava flows from 1704-1705. These are solidified remnants from the Arafo eruption in Tenerife! The lava flow was 9km long and destroyed around 70 buildings... @GeoTenerife#volcanoes#geology#Tenerife#lava

Inside a man-made pumice cave in #Tenerife. The unstable pumice is quarried out till they hit the more stable ignimbrite on top. The pumice from here is used as an insulating layer above the top #soil for #agriculture purposes.

We are delighted to welcome our latest member, @Weardalelithium, to the association!
Weardale Lithium is aiming to contribute to the UK’s #energytransition by seeking to sustainably produce lithium and generate #geothermal energy from underground geothermal waters in Durham.
Yesterday the @GeoIntern programme ventured toward Mt Teide. I have had this top trump card in my phone case since I received my offer to study volcanology in the Canary Islands. I have finally got the photo I wanted. Although the ‘WOW! factor score of 65 seems a little low.
A day at the beach with @GeoTenerife! Tourists enjoy themselves, unaware, in the shadow of tens of extinct scoria cones! These are part of #Tenerife#rift system. Younger cones tend to be smaller due to less available magma; future #eruptions may be smaller #geology#volcanology
Just setting off to the airport to fly to Tenerife to join my fellow earth scientists as @GeoIntern with @GeoTenerife! Looking forward to meeting everybody and seeing the volcano 🌋
