War Damage Leaves Kok Khpos School Struggling to Function
ODDAR MEANCHEY--The Monorom I and II primary school in Kok Khpos commune was damaged by Thai bombardment. There are only two buildings on the school grounds, one of which is made of wood and is already in a dilapidated condition.
The school's only restroom was destroyed, with fractures separating every part of the structure. Another building, consisting of a teacher's office and one wall-less classroom, is under construction.
Meanwhile, a temporary building constructed following the first round of border fighting to provide a learning space for children also suffered damage, with its front roof partially destroyed.
Although the school is crucial for the community, its condition is challenging, compounded by the risks posed by ongoing border fighting.

Only Damage Remains After Thai Strikes in Border Province
BANTEAY MEANCHEY— Numerous civilian properties and infrastructure in Prey Chan and Chouk Chey villages, along with the Boeung Trakuon area, were destroyed by Thai strikes after fighting resumed on Dec. 7.
When reporters visited Thmar Puok and O’Chrov districts on Jan. 3–4, the regions were disturbingly silent, with only the sounds of animals, a few vehicles, and homemade tractors outside the Thai-installed containers and barbed wire.
Although a new ceasefire agreement has been reached, many families cannot return home due to Thai barriers, ongoing security concerns, and unexploded ordnance in red zones.
