I want to say something important.

(NOTE: What I am about to say is in no way, shape or form an endorsement of worker visas, so please do not claim that it is.)

Here it is.

America is not so much a place as it is an idea.

That idea is this:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”

That idea is then given life through another idea: the Constitution of the United States of America.

America is unique in the history of the world as a country based solely on IDEAS, without regard for ancestry, or ethnicity, or race, or religion, or soil, or money, or blood.

If you come to America legally, become a citizen legally, and genuinely swear to support and defend those IDEAS, you are every bit as much an “American” as someone who can trace their heritage back to the Mayflower and Plymouth Rock.

This is a hill I’m willing to die on.

@notPBD I heard from some of my friends working for a major retailer that, the recruitment process is very stringent there. Even after posting job recruitments for months, they are not able to get ideal candidates. Also non H1B young folks just quit since they don’t want to work hard.
