A woman who went to prison as a teenager in 1975 is still there. Nixon was president when she went in. She will die behind those walls for something she did at 16.

And the wildest part is that the defense that might have freed her hadn't been invented yet.

She killed her abuser. In 1975, that fact was almost useless in court. "Battered woman syndrome" didn't exist as a concept until 1979, when psychologist Lenore Walker published the first real research on it. Courts started letting experts testify about it later that year. Most states didn't allow it until the late 80s.

So her jury heard a straight murder case. No framework for why an abused kid might strike back. Self-defense law back then only counted if an attack was happening right that second. Act at any other moment and years of abuse meant nothing.

The law did catch up eventually. Ohio's governor commuted 25 battered women's sentences in 1990. Maryland did the same in 1991. California passed a law in 2002 giving women convicted before this evidence was allowed a shot at new hearings. New York resentenced survivors under a 2019 law.

But every fix had a state line and a date cutoff, and she fell outside them.

Then there's the quieter trap. Even if she's technically eligible for parole, boards deny people based on the nature of the offense. Hers happened 51 years ago. She could spend every remaining day as a model prisoner and the main thing they judge her on will never change.

The system eventually admitted women like her deserved a different trial. It just never went back for the ones already inside.

This narrative is crazy. Sony lied all these years by telling people that you can’t play the PS2 and PS3 games they own on disc on PS5, and the only way to play them is through a subscription.

Sword just proved that they lied. His open-source software is going viral because you can literally play all of your games on PS5. He is all over X, TT and YT with millions of views. People are pissed at Sony for lying all these years.
