I have to confess.
For days, I was in complete denial.
I heard what started as rumours then testimonies and later evidence but I didn’t want to believe that - along with all the atrocities that happened on 7.10 - there was also systematic rape.
It devastated me to imagine what was done to so many Israeli women, what they had to endure, what they must have felt as terrorists violated them as an act of terror and war.
The silence of organisations like @UN_Women and prominent #metoo activists is outrageous, but it allowed me to stay in my blissful ignorance thinking that maybe those horrific acts didn’t actually happen.
This is the reason why @christinalamb piece today on the cover of @thetimes is so important, together with the work of @biannagolodryga , @jaketapper and others. They are shedding light on one of the darkest aspects of the 7.10 attacks.
They force us all to face the horrible
truth to the point where now, whoever remains silent is no longer in denial but rather complicit.
