We see a lot of papers rejected for drawing very complex serial causal models from cross-sectional data. A good read on the topic (and the concerns related to these analyses)? Chan et al (2020) from JoBEM: https://t.co/wrjupRPfzx
Some folks assume that #qualitative research is always inductive & grounded—that magically, after repeated readings, the “themes emerge.”
As such, they drag their feet in reviewing literature & wait until the end before wading into focused analysis. The result?

My last contribution on how to (so-called) decolonize IR (in @millennjournal)! The first baby step is to decenter the Western gaze in our syllabi:
-> 54% mention the Cold War, 8% de/colonization
-> 92% realism, 14% race studies
-> 32 U.S. leaders mentioned, 0 from Africa
Critics of decolonial thought actually believe it's a coherent whole--a monolith. These critiques don't even scratch the surface in terms of understanding decolonial thought outside of Anglophone contexts. They ignore the tensions & emerging self-critiques
