@mamainottawa My neighbor's are a brady bunch family, they each had a daughter named Madison who also share a birthday. I remember the mom/stepmom coming in to get them a cake the first year (years ago when I worked at DQ) and I was like... Wait, what?
I hope everyone will read Dave Ramsey’s comments about going cashless. It’s a two minute read. No one has explained it better. He brings up several situations I'd never considered.
I took this picture of my receipt in my beautiful town Kerrville Texas. I support this and I can see how this could affect our kids by having gaps in work ethic, financial literacy, and community connection.
Dave Ramsey repost:
HERE'S WHAT NO CASH ACTUALLY MEANS:
A cashless society means no cash. Zero. It doesn’t mean mostly cashless and you can still use a ‘wee bit of cash here & there’. Cashless means fully digital, fully traceable, fully controlled. I think those who support a cashless society aren’t fully aware of what they are asking for. A cashless society means:
* If you are struggling with your mortgage on a particular month, you can’t do an odd job to get you through.
* Your child can’t go & help the local farmer to earn a bit of summer cash.
* No more cash slipped into the hands of a child as a good luck charm or from their grandparent when going on holidays.
* No more money in birthday cards.
* No more piggy banks for your child to collect pocket money & to learn about the value of earning.
* No more cash for a rainy day fund or for that something special you have been putting $20 a week away for.
* No more little jobs on the side because your wages barely cover the bills or put food on the table.
* No more charity collections.
* No more selling bits & pieces from your home that you no longer want/need for a bit of cash in return.
* No more cash gifts from relatives or loved ones.
What a cashless society does guarantee:
* Banks have full control of every single penny you own.
* Every transaction you make is recorded.
* All your movements & actions are traceable.
* Access to your money can be blocked at the click of a button when/if banks need ‘clarification’ from you which will take about 3 weeks, a thousand questions answered & five thousand passwords.
* You will have no choice but to declare & be taxed on every dollar in your possession.
* The government WILL decide what you can & cannot purchase.
* If your transactions are deemed in any way questionable, by those who create the questions, your money will be frozen, ‘for your own good’.
Forget about cash being dirty. Stop being so easily led. Cash has been around for a very, very, very long time & it gives you control over how you trade with the world. It gives you independence.
If you are a customer, pay with cash. If you are a shop owner, remove those ridiculous signs that ask people to pay by card. Cash is a legal tender, it is our right to pay with cash. Banks are making it increasingly difficult to lodge cash.
Please open your eyes. Please stop believing everything you are being told. Almost every single topic in today’s world is tainted with corruption & hidden agendas.
Pay with cash & please say no to a cashless society while you still have the choice.
Every marriage has two types of people: one who wants to get rid of all the clutter & one who has emotional attachments to every cable bought since 1997.
The hardest part of ADHD isn’t starting a habit. It’s doing it perfectly for 10 days, missing one day and your brain immediately acting like you never did any of it.
@beautyandblanc Yes. I'm a mess with anything like that! And heaven forbid I have to take a regular one for some reason, I am out cold/incoherent for 48 hours max.
@MrsGoresDiary We lost our 13yr old dog at the beginning of the month. Our 4.5yr old is in part time preschool. Dog passed on Sunday, and we have conferences on Thursday evening. First thing his teacher asked us was "uhm...do you have a dead dog in your shed?" 🫠😂 Yep. Yep we do!
Our 4.5yr old has recently decided he likes the Cowboys. Literally NO ONE we know cheers for the Cowboys. We live in ND so our "home team" is the Vikings- so we all cheer for them and basically each have one other team we go for... Chiefs, Packers, Steelers... But the COWBOYS?!
My 11 yr old son, who lives in LA, has- completely arbitrarily- decided to be a Jets fan.
With all options on the table, I have tried to steer him in other directions. (No offense?)
He just said, while watching BUF/JAX, "It must be nice to have a good team."
Bro... you could.
@CrazyVibes_1 My nurses on the L&D were all men, but our oldest of our 3 kids was in the NICU for about 48hours is all, and our two favorite NICU nurses? Both males. Excellent with her and us- fresh new parents learning how to do this thing. I still think of them, 8yrs later.
@420mercymain69 2004, springtime, Atlanta. I was a 14yr old kid there with my Lego Robotics team for Nationals. We jumped in the rooftop pool at 45° that evening, the group sitting in the hot tub called out "you guys are the North Dakota team, huh?" Uhm... Yes? Why?
"No one else swims in this."
No one tells you how many versions of your marriage you’ll live through.
The newlywed version.
The exhausted new-parent version.
The “ships passing in the night” version.
The “we’re both stressed but trying” version.
The one person is thriving and the other is struggling version.
And the version where you finally find each other again.
Priss and I have learned that long-term relationships aren’t straight steady lines. They’re seasons.
The trick we’ve learned isn’t avoiding the hard ones.
It’s finding ways, big and small, to prioritize each other.
@littlebayschool My maternal great grandmother died, along with the baby girl, during childbirth, leaving 8 other children behind. My great grandpa never remarried and instead raised all the kids himself (some were old enough to help out with the young ones), sometime in the 1940's.
@sonyatrademark Ours are all over. And family photos (because we have 3 kiddos and all were born before we got married, did things a little backwards over here.) they're my happy place. Why wouldn't I hang them in MY home? This is our story. Our space. They're going to be seen.
Today at school was Sports Jersey day for Red Ribbon week, and since I watch all teachers kids we copy dress up days usually. Naturally, I wore my "Taylor's Version" NFL sweatshirt as my jersey.
@TheFoxMatriarch Mine are close in age, BUT my nephews are 4.5 years apart and my sister said she could never have imagine doing it any other way! Anytime we were together with my three (who are 20 Mo & 20 Mo apart 🤣) she was like alright, Auntie needs to sleep for a whole day when you guys go!
