@avril15NFT Yep. The moment I entered the space, I thought, "I need crypto to do better." I'll never forget the first time I came across @NotYourBroNFT, a pfp project using art that featured African facial structure. And then I saw the community's values... I knew I was in the right place.
I had a conversation with a new friend which changed how I see my own decisions.
I met @w_xyzed through @shefiorg recently, and we ended up comparing experiences around careers, hiring, and the bets we make along the way.
One thing I wanna share
There are moments when the way you position yourself can shape the entire hiring process that follows.
Aim too low, and people may start evaluating you from that lower frame.
It's not because of your skills.
Because you taught them where to place you.
That was a good reminder for me:
Don’t undervalue yourself before anyone else even gets the chance to value you.
Very grateful for honest conversations like this
and for new friendships that somehow find you in messy chapters.
P.S. Memories from @proofoftalk where I got to represent my previous company.
Try to deconstruct something today.
• Take a long-held belief. (e.g. meritocracy)
• Consider the conditions necessary for it to be true and exist exactly as you perceive it.
• Has every condition been fully met?
What did you learn?
(If nothing, you did it wrong. Try again.)
@yzolotukhina I always like to think of the job search as "match or no match" rather than "yes or no". (And dating as well 😂)
I think it helps "no" feel less like rejection, which is such a loaded term. But it also reminds me of my objective: to find the right role, a mutual fit,
Resume myths vs what actually gets you rejected:
Fine, actually:
→ 2 pages if you have 5+ years experience
→ No "objective" section
→ Gaps, if the rest is strong
Quietly kills your shot:
→ Job titles that don't match how the industry searches
→ Bullet points that describe duties, not outcomes
→ A layout that makes a recruiter work to find the info
Nobody's rejecting you for a gap in 2022.
They're rejecting you because they had to hunt for what you actually did.
Save this before you touch your resume again.
Crypto companies are now fintechs.
Rebranding away from tokens?
A signal of recognition and legitimacy from the market?
Or, a more accurate description?
Mass adoption requires leading with the problems being solved, not the tech behind it.
@frogule Looks like a scam. To confirm, respond asking for just an initial video call for verification. They'll likely come up with excuses to avoid it.
Odds are in favor of the account disappearing in a few days after being reported by other users.
@rkulidzan@jconnorholliman I've learned not to expect feedback. Tbh, most companies would give unhelpful feedback. But that's no excuse for a poor candidate experience. They can still set up a quick call instead of an email. Treat the candidate like a human. Be a champion for you even if you weren't hired.
@Kimcurrier@jconnorholliman It defo is a red flag, but less so for the company than recruitment in general. So many companies have the policy of not giving feedback, especially larger ones. Quite simply: they are scared someone will say the wrong thing, and they'll get in trouble for discrimination.
