Today at 6 p.m. ET, U.S. forces began launching new airstrikes against Iran at the Commander in Chief’s direction. The strikes are designed to further degrade Iran’s ability to threaten commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and swiftly punish Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps forces who launched attacks against American service members in Jordan last night.
Yeah, this album is gas. Rome continues to prove why he’s one of the best rappers alive and does so here on more dynamic production, expanding his sound without losing any of the focus on bars that made us a fan.
It’s symbolic that his first solo album with Mass Appeal comes about a year after Nas called him the “illest in NY.” If the ‘Legend Has It’ series was to celebrate the OGs still killing it, ‘S2MP’ represents what modern day NY sounds like and is a passing of the torch. “If I went to school, Nas would be the teacher” (Rome via Vibe Magazine, 2026).
While Rome has been in the game and produced quality for quite some time, he’s yet to get the widespread recognition that he deserves, so in some ways ‘S2MP’ is like his coming out party to a wider audience. He’s spoken on wanting to make hit records, and he put that into play on this album. When I heard ‘I Don’t Know’ for the first time at the release party, I thought it was from a different artist at first with the melodic hook. It completely upped the energy in the crowd and the track is an earworm. ‘Time & Place’ is another one that caught me by surprise but has that upbeat vibe to drive around with the windows down. I really liked the risks he took on this album and they feel natural and not forced at all.
On ‘S2MP,’ I was impressed by the expansion of Rome’s world, using different producers to give him more freedom and trying new flows and hooks, while not straying too far from the core. It’s my favorite Rome album of the past 4 years, and if he continues this direction, he’s setting himself up to have that larger reach he’s looking for.

Album review for Who Coppin by Larry June
Honestly, I think it’s safe to say Larry June is the definition of consistent. The man has put out quality music for YEARS, and somehow he continues to retool and refresh his sound to prevent himself from sounding stagnant. This album is a very good example of that as Larry is very much adding some new elements to keep himself at the top of the game.
Luxury raps are right up Larry’s alley. I think the biggest thing is that, he’s appealing to the average person. He’s telling you that he’s a production of the game and he put the work in to get to where he is and he’s going to celebrate that success. Half of his lyrics are motivational as well. You can see how he’s telling you that you can do this shit too, regardless of what you been through. You also get that signature Larry laidback flow, as well as his melodic side too. The features are a very welcome addition. He typically doesn’t have many but Jhene’ is just an example of someone who understands the assignment.
Production wise, it’s like a 80’s and 90’s feel but with some modern day Bay Area styles and sounds mixed in too. There’s a cohesive cadence the album follows and the production enhances the lyrics and doesn’t completely take over the tracks. There are some melodies and bass hits that really just make you wanna play the tracks over so it’s really easy on the ears.
Larry has consistently shown us why he’s the face of the Bay. 49 minutes of quality music that sounds good in the car, the headphones, and even a goddamn shower speaker. There’s a reason why people never skip a Larry album. He’s just really good. Good Job Larry!
