I tell people that when we returned to our lands, 1 ½ years after the 2007 post election violence, and my own dog recognized me, it FLED.

Our dogs had stayed on our wasted land for that whole time. Mine had burrowed it's hide-out where the burnt maize barn stood. Turns out they had survived on eating dead cows, sheep and people who were killed during the violence.
