For some years there has been a drive to award Moses Matovu a honorary PhD in Music, in recognition of his contribution to music in Uganda. Somehow it didn’t get off the ground. Of late, honorary PhDs are mostly awarded to rich people that can reciprocate. RIP Mzee Moses Matovu, you played your part. Quite tragic!

No, this criminality must stop! The first time they did a cleaning campaign, people were brutalised and maimed. Today, they've taken in a notch higher - a citizen has been shot dead in cold blood in Ndejje! According to onlookers, the police and military committed this crime while forcing boda boda riders to stop and sweep. Just like that, an unarmed citizen lost his life to these trigger happy criminals!

Long day but I will still say a few things about @SpireJim on this his birthday. I don’t know anyone so selfless. So empathetic. So workaholic. So gifted (apart from dancing😅). Every time I hear regime apologists spewing their usual nonsense that we do what we do for money I feel bad for Spire even more than myself. Because if Spire put half the time he puts into activism into making money with all his abilities and talent and brilliance, he would be so rich. But he spends the days teaching, and marking and reading theses and writing all sorts of publications and spends half the nights reading messages of people’s problems and relaying them and drawing cartoons and letters about them.. I’m so happy our paths crossed. I feel very lucky to know and work closely with someone that shares the same values and purpose and all😊 happy birthday my friend. I hope you got this gigantic glass again and celebrated. You are so loved and seen and appreciated.

Since yesterday (Saturday, 1 August 2026), @PoliceUg has detained Ugandan doctor Dr. Mukose Moses at Mulago Police Station.

Dr. Mukose had gone to the 6th floor of @MulagoReferral, where Dr. Kizza Besigye is currently admitted. Police claim they are holding him for “disobeying lawful orders.” It appears no one is permitted to move freely or be near that floor.

I spoke to Dr. Mukose this morning. He said he had simply finished checking on his father-in-law, who is a patient on the same floor as @kizzabesigye1.

Immediately afterwards, security personnel approached him and alleged that he had been sent by @IngridTurinawe to spy on them.

This is most uncalled for. RELEASE

In a country with a serious government, these three individuals @AAgather, @SpireJim and @GodwinTOKO would be awarded national honours for opening the lid and blowing the whistle on the grand corruption that was taking place in Parliament. I can't help but remember the kind of vitriol they received from regime apologists for releasing details of shocking transactions of billions landing on personal accounts. At the highest level, they were branded traitors and agents of foreigners.

Today, the same facts they revealed are stated in court documents. Even when the regime continues to harass them for their work, this moment provides all of us a lesson that when you remain consistent at doing the right thing, you'll most certainly be vindicated at the right time.
