Get over the sun, where life is hidden. Christ follower, husband, dad, former broke musician, astrophotographer. Jack of all, master of none. I drive a tractor.
Paul’s closing in 1 Timothy…seems extremely relevant today.
“O Timothy, guard the deposit entrusted to you. Avoid the irreverent babble and contradictions of what is falsely called “knowledge,” for by professing it some have swerved from the faith. Grace be with you.”
@JacobHester18 Wait, what, was there a game today? Like a real game where the players are allowed to use their thumbs?
Oh yeah, Cubs walked it off in the 9th!
GEAUX CUBS GEAUX!
Hey Mark! I know you won’t like this now, and you’ll probably never remember the stupid guy on X who said it to you, but I really hope the message itself sticks with you.
Your creator made you in His image. He made me in His image, and every person who ever has and ever will walk on this earth in His image. And we sinned against Him, every one if us. We became enemy’s of our God. There is nothing good about us. Our righteousness is as filthy rags. We deserve eternal separation from Him.
Yet, He loved the world so much that He gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
I am small minded and hateful, you are so right about that. Every ounce of my flesh is despicable. My sin has corrupted me to my very core and made me the worst of the worst.
And I was dead in the trespasses and sins in which I walked…
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, has made me alive with Christ.
Only by His grace and great mercy did He called me to Him, and through faith in Jesus Christ I have been saved!
I am praying for you Mark, this very moment, that He will draw you to Him, and that you too will put your faith in Jesus, and be saved.
Again, I hope that you will always remember that some stupid guy on X got down on his knees at 1:55AM and began praying for you, that you would come to know and experience the love of the Father.
A Sharpie scripture on the arm might not show up in photos years from now, but writing it next to the Pride logo (on a clearly visible cap) ensures their belief is captured right alongside the event’s intended message.
We can go round and round, but you’ll never convince me that warning or punishing players for this modest, equal pushback isn’t compelled speech and punishment of conscience. That’s unconstitutional.
I’m done here. You can continue to try to find holes in my logic, but I've said my piece and I'm not changing my mind.
I get they can opt out and wear the regular cap, that's a start.
My point is they should also have room for a modest, personal expression of disagreement on the event gear (like a small scripture) if they're participating.
A live game reaches millions vs a few thousand in interviews. They should have the right to clearly express their disagreement during the actual event, not just later after the crowd has gone home, and the channels have been changed.
Uniform rules should apply evenly, not just silence one side when the league already customizes for Pride.
If a company is going to require employees to participate in (or visibly support) an event that conflicts with their deeply held religious beliefs, they should have the right to a clear, good-faith accommodation: wearing their standard uniform or a modest way to express their disagreement, like a small pin, patch, handwritten scripture, or wristband.
MLB players aren't ordinary employees with easy alternatives. They can't just switch leagues or teams that better align with their faith. Their only real option is to leave MLB entirely. Forcing participation or silencing quiet personal expressions of belief isn't neutrality, it's compelling speech and punishing conscience. Consistent uniform rules are fine, but they shouldn't selectively override religious freedom when the league itself alters the uniforms for a cause.
MLB should tread carefully. There’s a lot more us fans that agree with the pitchers than with the league when it comes to pride night propaganda.
Let the MLB be warned, not the pitchers.
Be careful, MLB.

@willchamberlain@DefiyantlyFree It’s always a tax. You notice how they never come out and say, I propose you donate 5% to charity” or, “I propose you donate 5% to establish a college fund for student tuitions.” They want the government to get it. If they can tax it they get a piece of the pie.
