@drvolts Yes it is a thing that conservatism is unable to see collective action problems. Conservatism is also in the business of arguing that owners should get to keep their stuff. Climate change is a huge collective action problem, which won't be solved without owners giving up stuff.

@BretDevereaux I was good with NATO expansion at the time, mostly. I was good with leaving Ukraine out because I didn't really see the Europeans being really ready go to the mattresses for them. Turns out that was incorrect, and Ukraine should have been admitted 20 years ago.

@JohnBarnesSF try this on for size. The Yi Jing originated as a memetic weapon in a culture war/power struggle 3000 years ago, and was so effective at wiping out the memes it was pointed at that it is now largely incomprehensible.
