@QuincyEdmundLee A lot of that lower load period is used for generator and transmission line maintenance, and 300 GW assumes no transmission constraints across the US. Even a single 1+ GW data center can cause grid issues at a local level without new generation or transmission upgrades.
@JohnEDeaton1 I'm getting no sound when I try to listen on X.
Also just got an e-mail from Linqto?
"Effective June 1, 2026: The web app will also be discontinued, and you will no longer be able to access your account on the Linqto website."
So where/how do we check on our assets?
@JEBistline A lot of private projects submit to interconnection queues or are being built for off-grid data centers, but they are not obligated to notify EIA, and EIA staff typically miss these. Even utility-owned projects get missed by EIA including some under construction.
@NERC_Official Require RTOs/ISOs/BAs to publish "nodal level" 8760 hourly load data aggregated up to 160 kV and higher voltage busses where loads connect. That would certainly improve awareness.
@GovernorShapiro All else equal, this will likely increase PJM capacity and energy prices (and utility rates) unless new generation capacity is built. It will essentially remove the Susquehanna nuclear plant from the PJM grid to serve the new Amazon data center load.
