@JLopas This is a little too simplistic. PJM had ~2x the load as its load centers baked in 100+ degree heat. Congestion drove a lot of the high prices which renewables alone don’t solve.
@neoavatara@NYCMayor The NYC mayor isn’t forcing anyone. In the same manner that TX & FL gvts weren’t forcing anyone when they suggested the same thing in heatwaves. Please stop with this nonsense.
@Riley_Gaines_ TVA, which serves a lot of Tennessee, has indeed recommended the same. You’re not cool or clever for dunking on a super common public message across both red and blue states.
The widespread dunking on Mamdani’s 78F post even though this is a routine ask made by many states during a heatwave—including the socialist bastions of FL & TX—shows how deeply unserious people with influence are these days. Is there really nothing better to do?
@baseballcrank The reaction to this across conservative accounts today is incredibly stupid. States both red and blue (including TX & FL!) make this recommendation regularly during periods of particular grid stress. Not everything is a reason for a “dunk” on social media. 🙄
@AGHamilton29 I typically like your takes but this is stupid. These messages are standard/go out across the US when the power grid is under particular stress, including the Cuba/Europe of the US: Texas. Please don’t make statements like this on topics you know little about.
@RonDeSantis You’re right. But the drafters of the 2nd amendment also never contemplated deranged people bringing semi-automatic rifles (didn’t exist at the time) to schools. Why aren’t you taking issue with the 2nd amendment under that same logic? We’re in quite a different world now.
We can't let the Supreme Court kept overturning the will of the President like they're decisions are equally valid. We need a Supermer Court that we can appeal to.
@SeanTrende Final update: walking out of the airport 1.5hrs after arrival. This is in addition to coming to airport 1.5hrs before flight. 3 hours of airport time for a 4hr flight. There are certainly reasons to prefer trains.
@SeanTrende Also, I feel very calm on trains. I read or close my eyes and listen to something. Reading and closing your eyes is frowned upon when driving. I flew 2 days ago. The woman next to me kept moving/dropping everything/getting into my space. I’d rather have been on a train.
@SeanTrende I get to train stations ~15 min early. I get to airports ~1.5 hrs early. Add another 30 min taxiing/deplaning. Checked a bag? Wait even longer. And all that for less space. I don’t care if people prefer flying, why are others constantly dunking on those of us who prefer trains?
@punishedmother If we don’t care about the human, let’s just vote for party and place robots in the capitol. Generic D vs generic R: whichever party wins gets a robot in congress to “vote correctly”.
@ArmandDoma That’s how many Rs justified voting for Trump, and liberals judged them harshly for it. Some even broke up families, ended friendships. But when we have our own sketch candidate with questionable morals & judgement, it’s apparently an easy decision. Just makes me sad…
Thrilled to have attended the ribbon cutting for @ElevateRenew Prospect Power, the largest battery storage project to come online in PJM. How exciting to see in-person what was just a row on my interconnection queue tracking spreadsheet. Big things ahead for storage in PJM!
@PolicyEngineer Yes, but, wholesale costs get passed down to customers via retail rates. How this happens depends on state-level ratemaking & it’s possible most of us won’t see that sort of increase. But it’s also inaccurate to claim wholesale and retail are wholly separate things.
@AaronRegunberg Does it present a solid case of sexual assault? No. Does it further solidify him as a guy with questionable judgement who’s probably unfit for public office? Yeah.
