It was recently announced that children born of rape are to be recognised as victims in law.

Following my campaign, some rapists will be stripped of parental responsibility for children born of their crimes. However, the law does not protect all children. We must fight to close those loopholes and ensure they cannot gain access to our grandchildren through the family courts.

The Government must carry out research into the needs of children born of rape and their parents and carers, and develop a training programme to be rolled out to all professionals.

We cannot put the right support in place if we do not understand what those needs are.

Firstly, congratulations. You’ve managed to discover a brand-new definition of transparency.

Apparently, the people who write the laws can have their criminal records kept secret from the very people expected to obey those laws. That’s an impressive piece of political gymnastics.

The rest of us apply for jobs, volunteer roles, taxi licences, security passes, and all manner of positions where background checks are considered perfectly reasonable. Yet when it comes to those entrusted with running the country… suddenly privacy becomes the highest constitutional principle.

Forgive us if we’re a little confused.

If a criminal record is irrelevant to holding public office, then explain why. If it is relevant, then surely voters deserve to know before they hand over power at the ballot box.

Democracy relies on informed consent. It’s difficult to make an informed choice if important information about elected representatives is deliberately withheld.

This isn’t about conducting witch hunts or judging people for minor mistakes made decades ago. It’s about accountability. Those who expect the public’s trust should be prepared to earn it through openness, not secrecy.

So, a simple question:

Why should MPs and ministers be held to a lower standard of transparency than many ordinary citizens applying for everyday jobs?

After all, “nothing to hide” seems to apply enthusiastically to taxpayers, but rather less enthusiastically to taxpayers’ employees.

Is transparency now something that’s only expected of the governed, while the governors are exempt?

Perhaps we’ve misunderstood how equality works. We foolishly assumed the same standards applied to everyone. It would appear they do… right up until someone becomes an MP.

The British public doesn’t expect perfection.

This bastard Pat McFadden has committed an egregious act.

He has docked veterans’ benefits in a stealth raid on military pensions.

Former serviceman are being ordered to repay thousands of pounds because the Department for Work and Pensions classifies their military pension as “unearned income.”

It’s absolutely disgusting that migrants receive so many freebies when we can’t even see to the security of our own servicemen.

WHISTLEBLOWER CAUGHT THE FRAUD, THE NHS CAUGHT AMNESIA

Sharmila Chowdhury @sharmilaxx gave the NHS 30 years of clean service. Not one blemish. Then she did something apparently unforgivable.

She noticed two consultant radiologists at Ealing Hospital, run by London North West University Healthcare NHS Trust @LNWH_NHS, billing the NHS for shifts they were actually spending at a private hospital down the road.

Getting paid twice for the same hours is fraud everywhere on earth.

Everywhere except, apparently, inside an NHS complaints process.

She reported it.

To her line manager.
To the Medical Director.
To the HR Director.
To Counter Fraud.
To the Chief Executive.
To Number 10.
To the Treasury.

She built a paper trail so solid that ITV @itvnews later sent an undercover team into the same hospital years on and filmed the same consultants still taking cash from patients for private ultrasounds on NHS premises.

The Trust's response to all that diligence was to sack her, based on counter allegations later shown to be fabricated.

The man behind those allegations reportedly signed off an email too crude to print here.

He picked up a Top Mentor award from the Trust that same year. Nobody writes comedy this good on purpose.

Sharmila took it to tribunal and won. Won the appeal too.

A judge ordered the Trust to reinstate her. The Trust said no. She was then quietly blacklisted across the NHS.

One job offer was withdrawn the moment they worked out who she was. Legal costs hit £130,000.

Somewhere in the middle of it she developed breast and lung cancer, which her doctors link to years of sustained stress.

The two consultants kept their jobs.

George Osborne could not get involved.

Andrew Lansley could not get involved.

David Cameron could not get involved.

Every one of them filed it under employment matter, Whitehall for we would rather not know.

This is absolutely terrifying.

In Huddersfield a gang of 5 men led by Rayhaan Saleem, 19, started breaking into a property when they realised just a girl and her mum were home

The mum rang police who told her to barricade herself and her daughter in a room which they luckily managed to do

The police arrived within minutes and arrested the men at the scene finding a machete as well

This all happened in the early hours of the morning

The attack happened in May but they've just been sentenced this week, the leader, Saleem has been sentenced to just 26 months in a young offenders institute!
