Former coach Ron Jans, who previously led FC Utrecht among other clubs, said that PSV midfielder Sano Kodai produced the best pass of the weekend at De Halhenbaart on Sunday.
Jans watched PSV’s 6-1 win on Sunday with great admiration.
“I have the best pass of the weekend that I picked out. It’s Sano’s pass.”
Jans said this on Studio Sport Voetbal.
Japanese midfielder Sano Kodai, who joined PSV this summer, received the ball from goalkeeper Matej Kovar and, with his back to his own goal, played it forward to Ryan Flamingo.
“You almost never see a moment like this. It’s a very high-risk play.
First you have to be able to see that lane, you have to have the courage to try it, and you also have to have the ability to actually execute it.”
Jans praised Sano Kodai’s play highly.
“He quickly checks around him once. Almost every player would have played it diagonally backwards to a centre-back. But Sano passes it forward over the opponent. And that play eventually led to a goal.”
Visibly impressed, Jans continued:
“This is a truly special piece of play. I think Sano is a really excellent signing.”
