Kenya’s Controlled Contest: How Power Recycles Itself Through Manufactured Opposition

British-backed war criminals and mass murderers Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto perfected a durable arrangement. Public disagreement is staged; the underlying architecture of power is protected.

Risk is shared, ideological differences are performed for the cameras, and the economic structure that subordinates Kenyan productivity to external interests remains undisturbed. A narrow circle continues to extract benefit while the broader system is preserved.

The same method is now operating through William Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua. Apparent rivalry functions as cover.

Behind it, Uhuru is assembling both primary opposition formations - the corrupt United Opposition of geriatric fossils and the newer Linda Mwananchi bandwagon of scammers - so that the eventual result stays compatible with existing networks of influence and state capture.

The pattern is consistent and deliberate. Political vehicles currently enjoying heavy media circulation and public visibility have been permitted to operate. Genuine divergence has historically been met with the older colonial instruments of restriction, selective enforcement and intimidation.

What is sold as democratic contest is, in substance, managed competition designed to exhaust and confuse.

Citizens are under no obligation to treat this theatre as meaningful choice. The noise can be ignored. The performers can be left to entertain one another. Every politician elevated by this arrangement deserves the same baseline response: informed and consistent dismissal.

The system is engineered to reproduce itself. Recognising the design is the minimum requirement for refusing to legitimise it.

It is with deep sorrow that I have learnt of the passing of Dr. Job Obwaka, a renowned Obstetrician-Gynaecologist and Board Director at the Nairobi Hospital.

To the family of Dr. Obwaka, I extend my heartfelt condolences at this difficult moment. I join you in mourning a man of great resolve, a just and principled son of our motherland, and an intellectual par excellence who devoted his life to saving human life and standing for truth.

Dr. Obwaka will be remembered strongly not only for his professional excellence, but also for his courage in moments that demanded integrity and courage. He chose conviction and truth over convenience, and in doing so, affirmed the enduring value of moral leadership and integrity we so deserve as a country.

His passing away reminds us, as a nation, of the legacy of those who stood firm in pursuit of justice and the common good.

Dr. Obwaka will be remembered for leading his colleagues in resisting the hostile take-over of the Nairobi Hospital by the country’s chief grabber leading to his arrest and incarceration in police custody for days despite his plea that he was having health challenges and advanced age.

He left police custody a broken man but stoic that there are Kenyans who cannot succumb to intimidation and police harassment. Though traumatized by the police brutality, he lived a few weeks to narrate his ordeal at the instigation of heartless and cruel grabbers of public and private property.

May the Almighty God grant his family peace and comfort, and strengthen his colleagues in the medical profession during this difficult time.

May the soul of Dr. Obwaka rest in eternal peace, and may perpetual light shine upon him forever.

In 2012, IEBC conducted a fresh voter registration for all Kenyans, since it was the first time biometrics were used to register voters following the promulgation of the new constitution. It was during this mass voter registration that BVR kits were first used. In that case, EVERYONE who voted in 2013, 2017 and 2022 is definitely registered using biometrics.

In this regard, IEBC chair Ethekon should avoid making statements intended to cause confusion, and instead clarify the following issue for us:

✅ Total number of verified voters nationally and per county
✅ The exact number of registered voters per county whose biometrics were not captured in 2012, and therefore have not had a chance to vote since 2013.
