“Access to #ClimateFinance is a matter of Justice. Conversations on the New Collective Quantified Goal on #ClimateFinance (#NCQG) must ensure that it is delivered at scale, is grant based and is gender responsive.” Rania Harrara (@presidentrania) for the @WGC_Climate.
❗️ We have failed to show the world that we are responding with the purpose and urgency required to limit warming to 1.5C.
SIDS cannot afford this failure.
COP29 must deliver decisions of substance, not delay❗️

@COP28_UAE has turned the page on fossil fuels with the outcome from the Dubai UAE conference but @AOSISChair asks; is it enough? We need decisions that meet the magnitude of the #climatecrisis

Hey @elonmusk , I am still skeptical of this electric truck. Why don't you send a truck to the Marshall Islands and I will happily test it out on the harsh pacific salinity environment. What'cha say?

"Officials in Japan have admitted they are struggling to determine why hundreds of tonnes of fish have washed ashore in recent days."
So what have you been doing differently these past couple of months Japan? 🤔

As @COP28_UAE ends, the @AOSISChair group did not get what was needed. However, we are island people. We are resilient. Our ancestors sailed the harsh seas and survived, and these resilient Islanders will once again sail to the harsh negotiations of COP29 and ensure 1.5!
As it was our first COP as @AOSISChair , I wouldn't have picked a better bunch of colleagues to work with. Despite being a small team, we endeavored through long hours & many challenges together.
Thank you to the #AOSIS family for the support🫶 faafetai
Now it's time to recover!
Today #AnneRasmussen was the voice of millions. She shouldered the pain of generations and championed the call for change. She led courageously from the front, piloting us through the turbulence of the past few hours. We are truly proud to have this warrior on our side!
"...I hope that the islands are heard as we will continue to call for a phase out of fossil fuels that is clear & complete.
As we sail this leaky canoe together, let’s agree to patch the leak so we can keep the canoe afloat for the sake of all of us, esp. the most vulnerable."
Thank you for your leadership, Minister Silk.
"I came here to build a canoe together for my country. Instead, we have built a canoe w/ a weak and leaky hull, full of holes. Yet, we have to put it in the water because we have no other option..."
“In the context of the real world where temperatures are rising and people are dying, it is not enough. I hope that we will continue to call for a phase out of #FossilFuels that are complete.” Marshall Islands 🇲🇭, on the adoption of the #GST at the closing plenary of #COP28.
"...I appreciate the effort that has gone into this outcome. But it has not been inclusive. The fact that the decision was gaveled without a major group in the room, who represents one of the most vulnerable groups in the world, is unacceptable..."
