The First World War miraculously produced all sorts of high culture. But every year on this day it is worth watching the ending of the greatest sitcom, which somehow managed to catch the tone of remembrance exactly, perfectly right.

Lunch break walkies in the autumn sun with Monty. So far, he's chased a squirrel, a bird and a lot of falling leaves. The local wildlife is safe, he can't even manage to catch a leaf!

Birthday alert🐾

Monty was found in a derelict building, so he's not sure, but his passport says it's his birthday today.

He celebrated with a giant birthday sausage, snaffled so quickly that there's no photographic evidence. If I get the camera ready, he'll give it another go.
