Is there any road left in Ethiopia untouched by the multitude of conflicts tearing the country apart? The recent violence along the border between the Oromia and Somali regions was not accidental, it was a calculated act, deliberately instigated by federal government agents in collusion with regional administrators. For six years, since 2018, this border had enjoyed peace and stability. Yet the moment the regime began to feel the heat of rising public discontent over economic collapse and political repression, conflict was suddenly reignited, from Moyale in the southern tip to Bordode in the east. This was not a spontaneous eruption of local tensions, but a manufactured crisis designed to divide communities and distract the public from the regime’s mounting failures.
We shall foil and defeat Abiy’s attempt to extend his rein of terror by instigating horizontal conflict among our people, just as we did with the previous regime. We now have much more experience to beat their recycled tactics.
Update 12: Operation Cichoomina Kaayyoo
1. Maqii Town of East Shewa
On January 22, the Harsadee Command launched a successful operation in the East Shewa zone, Dugdaa district, Maqii town. The regime’s camp was overrun, resulting in 14 enemy soldiers killed and 12 wounded. Following the confrontation, the regime discreetly treated its injured in a local hospital in Maqii.
Additionally, action was taken against two regime agents known for orchestrating the imprisonment of Oromo politicians in the area.
2. Borena Zone
On the same day, the Southern Command carried out an operation in Borena zone, Goomolee district at Dhakaa Barruu, where 52 regime soldiers were neutralized and 19 wounded. Two soldiers surrendered, while the rest fled. During this engagement, OLA forces seized 34 AKM rifles and two PKM machine guns.
3. Eastern Oromia
Yesterday, January 26, 2025, brigades from the Eastern and Harsadee Commands conducted coordinated actions in Hancaarii district, neutralizing 30 regime soldiers and wounding 25. Simultaneously, in Daaroo Labuu district, nine soldiers were killed and 19 injured. The OLA seized 45 AKM rifles, one PKM machine gun, and other military equipment. Units of the OLA's Central Command executed a surgical operation today in Caancoo Rob Gabiya, located in Sululta, North Shewa.
The targeted patrol vehicle was neutralized during the operation, leading to the elimination of Commander Legese Seyoum, head of police in the district, and his security detail, composed of members from the ENDF and Oromia Police. Additionally, Sisay Bashadaa, a senior Prosperity Party official from the area, sustained injuries and has been transported to Caancoo Hospital for treatment. The remaining crew members were captured during the mission.
Both Legese Seyoum and Sisay Bashadaa have been playing key roles in orchestrating military campaigns against the OLA and perpetrating acts of aggression against Oromo civilians. Their actions stand in stark contrast to certain lower-level government officials who, despite the regime’s repressive policies, remain committed to public service and professional responsibilities rather than participating in Abiy Ahmed`s war and exploitation of the Oromo people.
History bears witness to the pattern of the downfall of charlatan dictators marked by humiliation and disgrace. Their ascent through deceit and manipulation, and attempt to hold on by ruthless repression, frequently create an illusion of invincibility. However, when their regimes unravel—due to the weight of corruption, injustice, or popular uprising—their fall tends to be swift and humiliating.

Criminal drone strikes conducted by the Abiy regime in North Shewa today
Each time it faces a military setback, the regime habitually responds with brutal retaliation against civilians, hoping to crush their spirit into submission.
This morning, the Abiy regime launched drone strikes on civilian areas in the Hidhabuu Abootee and Kuyyuu districts of North Shewa zone, continuing its disregard for human life and international humanitarian norms. The Kuyyuu attack targeted a school, violating every tenet of International Humanitarian Law and endangering the lives of innocent children. In Hidhabuu Abootee, the strikes targeted shepherds tending to their family livestock, aiming to disrupt not only lives but also the livelihoods of rural communities.
It is essential that human rights organizations amplify the voices of these communities—speaking out for those who are left unheard. Only by shedding light on these violations can we hope to bring accountability and justice to those who suffer in silence.
