Clients sometimes come to me wanting to increase the quality of their 1:1 catch-up with their team members: maybe they feel like a list of things, or that they’re not getting into the heart of the matter of what is really going on for that team member.
Sometimes, they feel stuck in a complaint loop that they’re struggling to turn around. Sometimes they feel it’s only them talking.
The GROW model which I explain in this video offers 4 simple and easy steps: GOAL, REALITY, OPTIONS and WAY FORWARD.
Getting unstuck is scary. The key lies in figuring out the balance that you’re looking for.

"...Her gentle and holistic approach, using various other methods allowed me to progress on various topics personally and professionally. She always had the capacity to make me think through various angles and understand issues more deeply to allow me to grow..."
So what’s the difference?
It may sound simplistic, but it’s the same with your promotion. Ask for what you want. Remind the powers that be why you want it, why you’re deserving of it and what’s your value. Cross that finish line.

This might not be what you want to hear, but if you don’t ask for what you want, you’ll likely not get it.
Of course, you’re doing a great job, and you’re deserving of that #promotion or that project that you’ve had your eyes on for a while.

Because when she doesn’t ask for them, I might not think about it, I might think about it and forget, I might think maybe she doesn’t care about having one this evening. She’s just as deserving of treats of it as on a night she asks for it as one on ne she doesn't.
