This is a stunning take from someone who, I think, is a reporter.

People aren’t being creepy. It’s just so much of this isn’t adding up and as someone in the media, your job is to ask questions. Such as:

— Why did it take 11 days for the 49ers to say anything about his accident?
— Why were the police trying to blame a 21-year old when Shanahan was at fault?
— And since Shanahan admitted it was his fault, why at the very least is he not receiving a citation? (A reminder that when Tiger Woods was involved in a car crash in 2021 in Los Angeles, he didn’t receive a citation despite driving well over the speed limit and people questioned whether he was given favorable treatment, too)

I understand that under California law, collision reports don’t necessarily have to be made public.

But if this was just an accident — although one in which Shanahan suffered serious injuries — and there is nothing to see here … everybody involved sure is acting as if there’s something to see here.
