@skood009@oku_yungx While skills are competencies are important, in the corporate world, your core values are equally important. What you do,say or write could be taken as a reflection of your values and no serious organization will consider you an asset if you write or talk "anyhow".
Taribo played more matches for Auxerre in 3 years than he played for Nigeria in his entire 11-year career with the Super Eagles. He played 45 matches for Nigeria compared to 75 caps for Auxerre, 45 caps for Inter Milan and 4 Caps for AC Milan. He played for 5 other clubs after he left AC Milan.
Some of these guys talk as if they only played for Nigeria as a full-time job. It was a career, you earned money abroad, you represented your country and also got rewarded and recognised for it. What is this entitlement all about? What should Army veterans do? What should retired policemen do? What should health workers, teachers, and civil servants do?
Why can't our players form an association like their counterparts abroad and start a life insurance and retirement savings plan?
Yes, athletes should be rewarded and recognised but Taribo shouldn't feel that he did something more heroic than millions of Nigerians who represent the country daily in various endeavours.
We all love football and I feel sad when I see the conditions of some retired football legends but Taribo and his colleagues should stop blackmailing the country. 90% of their football career was spent playing club matches and they were adequately compensated.
@RealMaySano@omaakatugba Insured by who? Many of these people earned good income and never deemed it fit to take personal health insurance cover. When teachers, nurses, and soldiers retire, who takes care of them?
@WoleOpatola The money was coming from loans and indebtedness to foreign investors, including airlines. Aside from this, the states and LGAs are receiving increased allocations, and we should demand from them what they do with the increased allocations.
