Richard Wallace donated 5 #WallaceFountains to Lisburn, in N. Ireland, where he inherited a vast estate. Today only 2 remain, including this 1 in a park he also donated to town. Wallace made very generous contributions to civic improvement & is revered to this day. @lisburnccc

The only remaining wall-mounted #Wallacefountain is in the #JardindesPlantes. Water flows from the mouth of a naiade, a mythological goddess of fresh water & fountains. Red arrows at its base point to the sculptor's name & the foundry. It was restored by @eaudeparis in 2015. ⛲️

Sir Richard Wallace was the last resident of Château de Bagatelle. He died there in 1890 at the age of 72. It is being restored by
#FondationMansart & will eventually open to the public. A bust of Wallace procured by the Society of the #WallaceFountains will be on display there.

60+ #WallaceFountains were repainted in 2022, the 150th anniversary of the 1st Wallace⛲️. In her effort to find every fountain for #Wallace150 Bonnie Buchholtz encountered @eaudeparis workers who expressed their pride in their work preserving the Parisian icons. #FontainesWallace
