@rejectHisDesign@gaykittycorps@wonderseabreeze there are so many legitimate comparisons, but they lead with a bafflingly false example that it calls into question their knowledge of tge subject matter
@rejectHisDesign@gaykittycorps@wonderseabreeze what would you call pre agrarian human society, and borders is literally the point, there ARE parallels to be made but fog of war is the wrong one
my hot take is if you are writing, or teaching, about game studies, if you have less than like 20,000 hours in games your opinions on it are less than worthless to me. you dont understand the medium enough yet, get back to playing.
@asubparusername there is some interesting analysis to be had about civs relation to how people tend to view past and how historiography moulds modern thought, but instead we out here saying fog of war is colonialism and problematic
@gaykittycorps@wonderseabreeze this just patently isnt true, borders in civ are used to show nobodys land,fog of war is explicitly used to hide information, it hides other peoples lands as well, it's used informationally. its not colonial for a scout tribesman to not know whats past a river and need to explore
If it is, then it just shows how bankrupt is the concept of progress and useless it is as an analytical category. This is a metaphysical teleology that doesn’t even know where you want to go, just that you have to go. It serves capital, not communism.
@KeyTryer 90% of cases i think we'll see humanoid bots, if most people are using 1 design they can be made at scale and much cheaper, even if not as perfectly efficient as a custom made design. plus everything we have is already designed for humans so they slot into production seamlessly
@puppycelebrity ive played thousands of games and think its a disservice to the medium to hold mixtape up as a pillar of it, gaming is so much more than a lightly interactive movie, it barely utilizes what makes the medium itself, there are plenty of incredible story based games, this aint one
Everyone who defends it by saying this is games as art, is this really the best you can imagine for the medium? A movie with light interactivity?? Games can be art but the medium will not progress by pretending to be a medium it isn't. Psychomantis fight is more artful than this
A musical delight from start to finish, Mixtape sets a new standard for coming-of-age stories in video games and does so with a masterful sense of style.

Kids were paid $50 to throw grenades at us, and they were almost always mixed in with rocks. The grenade inflicts casualties, it's a win, we end up shooting a kid, it's still a win for them. That's the kind of nonsense we dealt with.
@shredberg i personally respect someone whos voting consistently on the variations, even if its not the option i choose, much more than people that seem to flip flop on a whim
@shredberg i agree 100% my biggest lesson is that people will vote for just about anything if you frame it correctly, theres maybe about 10% that stay consistent on both sides through slightly different versions
@NotaSkaven@Fenix17267518@Flobertou there are two outcomes,
blue wins, or red wins,
if i think blue will win my vote does not matter, if i think red will win i need to vote red to survive. i hope most people vote blue but i know my vote doesnt affect others votes in the original scenario described
