this has been in our submissions guidelines for the last 6 months (and people still submit this crap). let me point out that ours offers not rare but rather ZERO exceptions
"All work submitted to Conjunctions must be written entirely by a human author. Generative AI tools may not be used to write, draft or outline submitted content, with rare exception made for pieces that engage with the tool in an intentional, artistic, and transparent manner. While basic spell-checking and grammar tools are acceptable, any submission found to be partially or wholly generated by artificial intelligence will be rejected. Any use of AI in the creation of a piece must be disclosed in your submission."
ironically, taking a picture will actually erode your first-person memory of the real event; it’s as if your brain slacks off because it knows the recording is being outsourced. if your priority is a strong memory of the event then leave phones and cameras behind!
The no phones policy is honestly insane and, in my opinion, shouldn’t even be a thing. People spend hundreds, sometimes thousands, of dollars to see their favorite artist live, and a huge part of that experience is being able to take photos and videos to remember it. Fans pay all that money for a ticket, yet can’t record some of their favorite moments. I understand some people may disagree, but this is just my opinion.
@Todd_Toddleston@koraxos@nkulw that’s correct. bad writing and AI—both not allowed. but bad writing is forgivable; anyone can work hard to improve and submit again. AI writing, which in our minds is tantamount to cheating (and is bad writing to boot), is not.
Bregman has two big things right now: ecomodernist anti-degrowth and pushing Anthropic corporate lines. Both rest on a fundamental belief in the magical power of technology. Neither truly grasp climate catastrophe. Yet it is us who are comparable to climate deniers
I miss magazines. The smell of fresh pages, the glossy covers, the quizzes, the interviews, the ads we’d actually read. Social media just doesn’t hit the same.
Phoebe Bridgers has announced The Lost Tour with support from Alex G and Isaac Wood!
Each show will be phone-free, using Yondr pouches that will be unlocked when leaving the venue.
Side note, but GW Bush's paintings, prior to it becoming known that he was really getting into painting, were *really* good and remarkably intensely introspective.
