Just reinforces why I would not close X and move to a platform for 1% of the above. The reach for learning, sharing and remembering is far greater here. My posts are not for personal satisfaction, it’s about sharing and the above I mention, the UK media coverage of this will be zero. That includes the British participation in January. German Rhine 🇩🇪 ? Moselle valley 🇱🇺 ?
No !
#Marche-les-Dames in 🇧🇪 : our king 👑 Albert I died here in a 1934 mountaineering accident. The King fell from a rock face and his dead body was found later. A beautiful landscape, a sad event.

21 August 1914. British army private John Parr (aged 17) was killed in Belgium, to become the 1st British soldier killed in the First World War. Born in London, he had worked as a butcher’s delivery boy before he volunteered for the army.
A great visit to the Musée du Souvenir 40/45 at Perwez - with @drtorhumphreys in full flow about Pigeons in #WW2! And thanks to Benjamin who runs the museum for his amazing enthusiasm. It’s a must see site! See: https://t.co/1uWAuh7SFM
Heading off with @drtorhumphreys today on our first @LegerBattleTour Secret Army tour looking at Belgium during #WW2 and putting the famous TV series into its historical context.
Expert analysis of the work of SOE with the Belgian Hotton Group by @drtorhumphreys as we stand at their memorial in the Belgian forests where they resisted German occupation in #WW2.
