Club soccer has done more harm to the development of soccer players than anything else.
It’s a money grab full of promises and false hope.
Sincerely,
Former Club Soccer Coach
The day US soccer players stop needing to have an average household income of 300k a year to have youth development is the day we start competing for a cup
Why can't the USA have a dominant soccer team? Look how much it costs to play under 9 soccer for my local team. My parents didn't pay even ten percent of this in total for 8 years of me playing as a kid in Ireland.
US soccer won’t be good until you stop charging little kids thousands to play travel ball. You’re not getting the best athletes into soccer that way. It’s the same crowd as lacrosse and hockey at this point.
That’s the key difference between US soccer and soccer around the world. In the US you have to pay large sums of money to get your kids the exposure to become a worker ckass player. In other countries clubs pickup these kids and develop them through their academies for free. Until the US changes their youth system they will always struggle to match the talent in South America and Europe.
One big US soccer thought: our youth development has to get more affordable. One of my kids plays travel. It’s at least $5k a year & this isn’t even super high end. We can afford it, thankfully, lots can’t. Youth sports costs in the US are out of control, soccer more than most.
@piersmorgan We’ve already moved onto college football. @piersmorgan you spent enough time in the USA to know our national identity doesn’t hinge on this like Europe’s does. USMNT played like buns and deserved to lose. But rage baiting Euro’s continues until we find your next trigger 😘.
Congrats to Belgium — they dominated us. But I’m not sure we would have beaten any World Cup team today. On the biggest stage in the biggest game in US soccer history in front of an electric home crowd, our team completely no showed and embarrassed itself today.
I think many Europeans are confusing being litigious with being corrupt. America is a very litigious culture. Regardless of precedent, the idea that appealing a ruling constitutes corruption is odd to us.
@amelia_tweetz Everyone hated us anyway…. I’m not hearing the CONCACAF or African countries boohoo? It’s just Europe and their attitudes show why the EU is in total decline.
