My daughter wasn’t a celebrity, she was just a normal young woman who, at 19 years and 5 days, had her life stolen by Glioblastoma, a grade 4 brain tumour.

#Shoutout to Jack who plays for Shotton Colts U11s. Jack has a ilostomy stoma bag and also is NG tube fed. He always shows the meaning of the world determination, he doesn’t let his disabilities stop him from playing the game he loves. With the support of his amazing football managers, team mates and team parents he always plays with a smile on his face.

Jack is an amazing inspiration who shows us all to never give up and we all can help make our dreams come true even with disabilities 💙💙

Diagnosis to death 951 days

This morning I was helping my 94 year old mother at her flat when my phone rang  an unknown number. I nearly didn’t answer, but recognised our consultant’s voice immediately.

I slipped into another room so my mother wouldn’t hear. The weekly meeting had taken place and the team agreed an early scan was the safest option.

I asked the question I was dreading “Do you think it will be alright?” He said he hoped so, but they needed to be sure.

The rest of the day was a blur. I was scared. When I got home, I told Charlotte everything. I couldn’t hide it from her.
