This decision in Chatrie v. United States expands on our win in Carpenter v. United States eight years ago. It confirms that even shorter-term surveillance of location data can constitute a search, because it can still reveal “a wealth of detail about a person’s familial, political, professional, religious, and sexual associations.”
EFF filed an amicus brief alongside the ACLU, the Center on Privacy & Technology at Georgetown Law, and digital rights defenders across the country.

Amicus Curiae just means friend of the court. Remember that from my legal courses so long ago.
