Excited to share my first paper depicting the ups and downs of using small molecule inhibitors to study RNA-binding proteins (RBPs). This culminated in a general framework for investigating the specificity and targets of small molecules in cells. https://t.co/kKjqQrWvuB

Ro broadly targets (RRM1-containing) RBPs. While it is unlikely to be a specific inhibitor of MSI2, it can still be used to treat a variety of diseases due to its strong phenotypes. Finally, studies like ours can establish target specificity and identify new inhibitor targets.
