The Jail Division recently held selection for the Sheriff’s Response Team (SRT). Volunteers were assessed on both their physical conditioning and decision making throughout the day. The SRT team responds to critical incidents in the jail where specific training is needed.

The Walton County Sheriff's Office, along with Deputies Beyond the Badge, hosted @ourfamilyhealthcenter today for a training class. Dr. Plaster and FNP Alicia Whitley of Our Family Health spoke specifically to our female employees about strategies to remain healthy.

A new group of detention officers were sworn in by Sheriff Brooks at the new facility. These men and women were recruited specifically for the new jail as a part of our ongoing hiring campaign. We are very proud they have chosen Walton County to begin their law enforcement career

Training Coordinator Lt. Taylor taught a Citizens Response to Active Shooter Event (CRASE) class to a local church staff recently. This type of training empowers locations such as businesses and places of worship by guiding them through the best practices and industry standards.

The WCSO Firearms Instructors held a day at the range for the Walton and Newton County District Attorney's Offices. This training included firearms fundamentals such as weapon handling and basic marksmanship. We are happy to support our partners in the Alcovy Judicial Circuit.

The Walton County Sheriff's Office held a barbeque fund raiser, a check of $5,000 was presented to Walton County Special Olympics.

Sheriff Brooks and the WCSO are proud of our Special Olympians and it is an honor to be able to support and serve such a wonderful organization!

The WCSO conducted active shooter training at Walnut Grove High School last week. With the support and attendance of the Board of Education, our deputies and fire rescue conducted classroom learning, independent drill stations, and full scenarios.

The WCSO K-9 Unit was busy tonight after a driver fled on foot from a traffic stop on the east side of the county. After K-9 Ruhn located the suspect, K-9 Kilo was able to recover a Glock pistol which the suspect attempted to hide. Outstanding work by the K9’s and their handlers.

Members of the WCSO training staff completed the National Tactical Officers Association Active Shooter Response Training this week. We will not compromise when it comes to the safety of our students. #GOWCSO
