William Ruto’s KSh 3.8 Billion Flyover: The Most Expensive 820 Metres in Human History
In yet another display of breathtaking corruption, William Ruto has commissioned what must rank as one of the most expensive road projects on the planet - the Junction Flyover on the Ngong-Naivasha Road.
The cost? KSh 3.8 billion for just 820 metres. That works out to roughly KSh 4.63 million per metre.
Let that sink in. Four point six three million Kenyan shillings for every single metre of road.
This is not infrastructure. This is state-sanctioned daylight robbery on an industrial scale. This obscene price tag is not an accident. It is the predictable outcome of Kenyan engineering and tenderpreneurship at its finest - a toxic combination of deliberate delays, inflated budgets, kickbacks, and zero accountability.
Projects are routinely designed to drag on for years, not because of technical challenges, but because every extension, variation, and “unforeseen” cost represents another opportunity for politicians, contractors, and their connected middlemen to eat.
Ruto’s government has perfected this art. While ordinary Kenyans struggle with sky-high fuel prices, collapsing livelihoods, and unaffordable healthcare, the regime continues to commission vanity projects at prices that would make even the most corrupt regimes elsewhere blush.
The Ngong-Naivasha flyover is simply the latest exhibit in a long museum of grand larceny.
Every shilling spent on this project deserves intense scrutiny. How many schools, hospitals, or water projects could have been built with even a fraction of that money? How many young Kenyans could have been given meaningful opportunities instead of watching billions disappear into the pockets of a few well-connected individuals?
This is not governance. This is plunder with ceremony. Ruto and his sycophants smile for the cameras, cut ribbons, and talk about “legacy projects” while systematically bleeding the country dry.
Kenyan roads have become monuments to corruption rather than progress - overpriced, poorly executed, and designed primarily to enrich the elite.
The message to taxpayers is clear: your money is not being used to build Kenya. It is being used to build the personal fortunes of those in power and their associates. The Ngong-Naivasha flyover is not world-class infrastructure. It is world-class theft.
Until Kenyans demand better and reject the Kenya Kwisha Shit Show, the corrupt United Opposition of geriatric fossils and the Linda Mwananchi bandwagon of scammers led by Edwin Sifuna, James Orengo and Babu Owino, we will continue to pay millions per metre for basic roads while the real beneficiaries laugh all the way to the bank.
This is not development. This is organised economic sabotage.
