@shwinnypooh My biggest question is can they get him within the next week or so? Because most teams don’t want to make trades 6 weeks before the deadline and I’m not sure how long the Knicks can operate without a replacement for IQ

@jaseidler Not disagreeing with you on the stupidity of caring about decorum or whatever Cohen was annoyed about but if Ohtani could’ve been swayed by money at all wouldn’t he have been willing to agree to meet with the Mets?

@jaseidler I would be very upset if they don’t sign Yamamoto, but I’m kinda not sure how they could’ve anticipated the Ohtani contract structure allowing the Dodgers to easily participate in the Yamamoto negotiations. That could be some (unintentional!) water-carrying on my part though

@jaseidler I mean I agree they should’ve just offered Ohtani a billion dollars but they weren’t going to do that. And he might’ve just turned it down anyway. It’s more reasonable to expect them to offer Yamamoto $400M if that’s what it takes to pry him from the Dodgers, and I hope they do

@ChinaJoeFlynn Yeah it’s over. I don’t think there’s any number at which the Mets can get Yamamoto now - I’m pretty convinced Ohtani did this specifically to let the Dodgers pay Yamamoto whatever it takes
