The following leaders have been very vocal asking healthcare workers to accept the new terms- reduction of their salaries ~ 33%.

I am throwing a challenge to them to accept a pay-cut so that the money can be rechanelled to essential services like Health, Education and Agriculture.

@NdindiNyoro your salary as an MP is 710,000. This does not include benefits such as a car grant, mileage allowance, and sitting allowance that stands at Ksh.5,000 for every day you attend parliament. If you take a 33% cut, you save the country ~2.8 Million annually. This is an annual salary for a DOCTOR in Murang’a County. The doctor will have a coverage of at least 16,000 patients.

@HonMoses_Kuria your salary is 924,000. If you take the proposed 33% cut, you will save the county ~3.7 Million annually. That’s remuneration for a DOCTOR and a NURSE for a whole year in Kiambu County. You will still have ~619,000 and your incentives are intact. For this one doctor, 16,000 patients from Kiambu County will be served. The Nurse will serve every 1,000 patients in Kiambu.

@BarasaFernandes your salary is 990,000 less incentives. If you take the proposed 33% cut, you will save the county ~4 Million annually. That’s remuneration for a DOCTOR and a NURSE for a whole year in Kakamega County. The doctor will serve every 16,000 patients from Kakamega County. The Nurse will serve every 1,000 patients in Kakamega County.

@koske_felix your salary is Ksh957,000 less incentives, If you take the proposed 33%, you will save the county ~3.8 Million annually. That’s remuneration for 3 CLINICAL OFFICERS and 2 LAB Technician for a whole year in Nandi County.

@Nakhumicha_S your salary is Ksh924,000 less incentives, If you take the proposed 33%, you will save the county ~3.7 Million annually. That’s remuneration for a DOCTOR and a LAB TECHNICIAN for a whole year in TransZoia County. You will still have ~619,000. For this one doctor, 16,000 patients from TransZoia will be treated.

It cost Kenya 780,000 to pay CAS who are an unconstitutional office! Why? ~10 million Annually. This amount can comfortably employ 3 DOCTORS and 2 NURSES annually.

Governors alone cost the country KES 558,360,000 annually. We have not added their guzzlers, allowances etc.

Compare the above ridiculous Salaries to that of an entry doctor at 206,000.

If the President @WilliamsRuto is serious about budget cuts, starts from the bloated wages above.

Also offer healthcare workers a dignified Medical Cover. They offer services they cannot afford.

On March 21, 2024, the Ministry of Health initiated the process of assigning interns to various healthcare facilities nationwide. Medical Services Principal Secretary, Mr. Harry Kimtai, urged striking doctors to end their strike and resume work during the event held at Afya House.

Adan Harakhe, Director of Administration at the Ministry's State Department of Public Health and Professional Standards, oversaw the distribution of release letters to 1270 Diploma Clinical Officer Interns from a pool of 3752 across 6 cadres. The event at Afya House marked the commencement of their mandatory practical training.

Harakhe reaffirmed the Ministry's commitment to seamless healthcare services delivery and vowed to review internship policies to ensure graduates provide high-quality healthcare services as mandated by the Constitution of Kenya 2010.

Dr. Sultani Matendechero, Deputy Director General for Health, emphasized the importance of health promotion and disease prevention during internships. George Gibore, Secretary General of the Kenya Union of Clinical Officers (KUCO), lauded the government's efforts to improve medical personnel welfare.

Internship entails a one-year hands-on training for Clinical Officers, supplemented by six months of specialized training upon completion of the Higher Diploma, ensuring compliance with legal requirements for practice after graduation.

As a researcher, a sample size of 50 is too small to use in drawing conclusions about a population of 1000+ doctor interns yet to be posted. @Nakhumicha_S should stop her shenanigans and honor the 2017 CBA.
