Jordan Peterson tells Shawn Ryan that a campus tilted 65 percent female does not turn every guy into a winner. A thin slice of high-status men soak up the attention. Those men learn to juggle options instead of building a bond.

The women chasing them never get a relationship that costs him anything. Peterson’s point is not that the sexes are identical in the fallout. Pregnancy risk and reputation still land harder on women.

Civilized societies, he says, chose monogamy to stop that market from eating the rest.

When one man can keep ten doors open, nobody has to grow up behind any of them.

Just returned from a trip to Japan. In truth, I think modern Tokyo is one of the great accomplishments in civilizational history. It is the apex city.

There are 40 million people living there with extremely high levels of *justified* social trust.

It's incredibly clean, orderly, and safe, and yet it doesn't feel totalitarian--at least not if you behave yourself like a civilized person. The respect for individual freedom is clear and visible.

Reaching such high levels of social harmony would be an accomplishment for a single neighborhood, but Tokyo happens to the biggest city in the world. The sheer size alone is unbelievable--the infrastructure alone boggles the mind--and yet it's coupled with ultra-high levels of social harmony. There's nothing else like it.

Truly, it gives me some pride as a human. What an incredible thing we've accomplished.

The sexual revolution destroyed women's bargaining power and men have been the primary beneficiaries ever since.

Before the 1960s, if a man wanted physical intimacy, the price was commitment. Marriage. A ring. A promise before God and family.

The sexual revolution removed that requirement entirely. Women were told that casual sex was empowering. That waiting was old-fashioned.

But men and women are not the same. Men can walk away from casual hookups. Women are left with emotional attachment and potential pregnancy in a dating market where commitment is no longer expected.

The cruel irony is that the movement marketed as women's liberation primarily served men's interests. Men got access without commitment. Women got freedom without security.

Look around at the results: record-low marriage rates, record-high antidepressant prescriptions among young women, and a generation of men who see no reason to grow up.

Who was really liberated here?
