@tangotiger@oldhockeycards There should be no communication allowed whatsoever between non-player managers/coaches (including bench coach, pitching coach, base coaches, bullpen) and players during a game. Substitutions are relayed directly to the umpires. (Obviously still let guys get medical attention)
@tangotiger Does it eliminate the force play with empty bases? This is the biggest question I have, but I imagine it's fixable. There's a line ~10 feet up the base path, once you pass it, you've committed. Or something.
@jkyu06@bsweitz123 What happens if I put 2^(2^82589933-1)-1 lands in play via an unbounded amount of mana and Awaken the Woods? Nobody knows if that's a prime number or not
@jkyu06 However, it also doesn't give a way for what to do in order to determine if a large number is prime, which while grossly unrealistic, could theoretically come up with Awaken the Woods and unbounded mana
@DSzymborski@designate70@tangotiger@fangraphs Also hitting a HR in a PA means you're not stealing a base in that PA (and vice versa), but probably the biggest deal (I would think) is if you hit more HR, you have more playing time, and more playing time also helps you steal bases. (Mostly this matters for injury concerns)
@tangotiger I absolutely think that psychological factors play a role in performance, and things like comebacks probably have psychological impacts, but I think how those manifest themselves is beyond our capacity to predict in a general sense
@tangotiger I had similar thoughts. But while I think there probably is a real effect, I'm skeptical it really corresponds to 'momentum'. Would guess it has more to do with sub usage (relievers, defensive subs and now you're not ahead anymore, etc.).
@tangotiger I'd think you'd have an issue because if you get pulled early, there's a pretty decent chance you got hammered (and lost). It wouldn't stun me that if you extended this graph far enough left, at some point you'd start going up again the further left you get.
@tangotiger@matsonj Yup! Just gotta learn where different things are on the site. But I'm finding it now (and in this case, does not appear to be a 2 strike thing in particular, at least)
@tangotiger I voted whatever, but I've always found it weird that a foul tip counts as a strike rather than a foul ball. If it does, though, I would think that 'whiff' would follow the rules saying it's a strike? I mostly don't really care though.
