During a two-day visit to #TransNzoia and #Kakamega counties, Balozi @arnaud_suquet reaffirmed that the French partnership with Kenya is strong and rooted in grassroots initiatives, in the spirit of the #AfricaForward2026 Summit 🇰🇪🇫🇷.

➡️ During courtesy calls with Trans-Nzoia Governor @GeorgeNatembeya and Kakamega Governor @BarasaFernandes, he recalls that French interventions in Kenya present concrete opportunities and tangible projects. Discussions focused on shared priorities like energy 🔌, health 👩‍⚕️, environmental protection ♻️, water 💦 and youth-led initiatives 💡.

➡️ The last-mile connectivity program supported by @afd_en and @EUinKenya exemplifies this approach. New power lines will supply energy to 146,000 people in Kakamega and 32,100 in Trans-Nzoia ⚡ - improving livelihoods, supporting businesses, schools, and health facilities, and creating opportunities for youth and women.

➡️ In Kakamega, @arnaud_suquet, Governor @BarasaFernandes and the Chair of the Wangari Maathai Foundation, @wanjiramathai, reflected on the progress achieved through a key environmental partnership supported by 🇫🇷 through @ird_fr, @Cirad, the @WangariMaathai Foundation, @icipe, the green network project, the @KeForestService and supported by the @Kakamega_037 County Government. This project advocates for the conservation of Kakamega Forest at the grassroots level by establishing a Youth Hub that empowers young community members to act as eco-guides and lead environmental protection efforts. The iPlant Trees 🌳 campaign, which targets students from 16 primary schools, has also inspired lifelong stewards of nature.

➡️ While visiting a youth hub supported by Senator @HonAllanChesang in #Kitale, the Ambassador highlighted that a new support for Digital Super Highways was announced during last month's visit of the French President 🖥️ - aiming at providing fiber and greater access to Internet in the country, including Youth Digital Hubs.
