It was evident that Baba was deeply loved by the people. His tireless fight for democracy, for justice, for the rights and dignity of every Kenyan has earned him a place in the very soul of this nation.

When you borrow you literally borrow from your future income.

This is an appreciation of Dennis Ombachi and what he has created through cooking. He represents the kind of creativity Kenya has and is not being allowed to develop and flourish. The majority of young Kenyans can do amazing stuff in all sectors, not just content creation. But GoK, in the name of "order," keeps stifling Kenyan innovation, and then imposes a "policy" to make innovation happen. It prevents innovation of the majority of people from flourishing, then shows off to foreigners that the one or two who escaped are a successful result of their policy.

Ombachi also exemplifies what I say about education. Education helps us reinvent ourselves, modify our dreams, spot opportunities, and be diverse. You can be political, sportive, and a great cook. You don't need to stick to one pathway. You can be all these things and still be a great citizen.

Most of the people in Ministry of Education and the Education NGOs don't understand this. It's not that they're against it. It's that they just don't get it. That's the wall of deafness that infects our politicians as well. But Kenyans know better. We have to push for what Dennis does to be the norm.
