I watched the special episode. Plus: These are Everest's touching emotions, her bravery and confidence, Jake's touching speech for her to awaken her confidence.
Cons: The lack of Everest and Marshall moments and the lack of Marshall action in missions.

!SPOILERS! “For Everest and the Big Chill”

Used a VPN to watch the Everest special and overall I thought it was pretty decent, lots of heartwarming/cute moments. Specifically Jake’s pep talk with Everest, we haven’t seen a bonding moment between them in a while, the fake out with Danny falling into the mist and Skye catching him was also pretty cool along with some other action scenes, and not to mention the visual effects from the ice tornados with the mixture of blue and pink was nice to look at. Also I’m a bit biased but I liked that moment where Chase catches Skye but not any of the other pups, which I feel was done on purpose by the show’s team, hopefully Chase will be more considerate next time.😂 Ryder also kinda worried me at first since I thought he was neglecting the pups, I think this is the first time we see the pups actually complain they are too tired to go out for a rescue and Ryder still needed them to get back to work, which looking back I see that it’s was necessary and they had a responsibility to fulfill. I’m glad he made up for it by adding winter upgrades to the vehicles (ohh, and heat warmers!) Not to mention Alva’s sidekick “Seal-ia” was pretty cute too.

However there are few gripes I have with it. Pretty much my main gripes had to do with the villain and Everest herself. While Alva does have her moments of being a legit threat toward the middle/end of the special, she’s a bit TOO cliche for me plus a bit annoying if I’m being honest, and the thought of her being on good terms with Sealia after deliberately taking her away from her home unwillingly and acting like everything was fine really when she brought her back just made her seem extremely selfish. And many times Everest just didn’t seem like herself in the special with her not being considerate of others and being the only wanting Winter to last longer, not helping Jake shovel snow, being upset most of the time, it just doesn’t seem like her. Kinda like how Skye was in the mighty movie after literally “Rendezook-ing” the cloud catcher in the first movie. I understand all this needs to happen because of the plot but some things just feel forced and lazy. Not to mention I feel like the start and the ending were completely rushed. Also I’m a bit upset there was no backstory for her I guess they didn’t feel like they needed to add one due to her introduction episode in season 2, if they even saw it…I wish they would have referenced it.

There’s only so much I can say on Twitter but overall I give the special a 7/10 #pawpatrol
