@mikehakata And here we are outside one of London’s many sacrificial nurseries where the poorest children are being poisoned by LTN displacement. Not sure how you all sleep at night, knowing you are harming other people’s children. This is not climate action. It’s the rich stealing clean air
Big @Courtney_Lawes I knew if I stood next to you and we sang your first anthem together you’d get over a 100 caps! Huge congrats on an amazing @EnglandRugby career you legend!
With so much going on in the world this week I’ve been reluctant to highlight Oxford’s traffic trials & tribulations, but this post really highlights the painful reality. Those involved directly & those not speaking out against should be ashamed!
@ShimanoSteve@carltonreid Also what's the difference in polutinn between a 5 & 25 min journey? Is it x5 as much pollution or is there a hockey stick effect? Replicate this across the millions of extra journey's and it's clear #LTNs are not designed to reduce pollution and increase air quality
@ioisours We all knew this though. Why don't TFL invest in their mass transit systems to encourage people out of cars? It would create space for cyclists to do so on quieter roads ... Or would that not be a good spend of budget compared to restricting infrastructure for the masses?
@GabriellaSGG Any idea why there are traffic counters down at the other end of windmill road? Currently tracking during holidays when a main tributary road up out of Brentford to Ealing is closed? Doesn't seem like an honest data set of it's being used for any planning decisions
@RuthMayorcas @VeritasBarnes @StPaulsSchool You are different, I am happy to cycle on roads and share the road with cars, and yes I believe that the most vulnerable should be protected in this case which is the pedestrian. That would be a terrible crossing with bikes flying past you. Cyclists can use the road. Simples
There needs to be a completely objective survey by specialists not linked to any local authority into the traffic policies of LTNs, road closures, rapidly imposed ultra low traffic zones, congestion, levels of air pollution and punitive highway robbery fines imposed by councils!
Weekend FT letter says Low Traffic Neighbourhoods were implemented so rapidly, without basic data, v difficult to persuade locals of all political persuasions they just shift traffic from one street to another “increasing congestion ..and pollution”. Yes!
@RuthMayorcas@guardian How is this click bait? click bait uses sensational titles to drive traffic (ironic) to certain sites, this is an accurate account of the state of pedalling hierarchy. Thanks @guardian for confirming what everyone already thinks about these giant child/grocery delivery machines!
@AirQBR @willnorman@wfcouncil Not silly - infuriating! I walk, cycle & use public transport. I now need to use an inhaler because I live in an LTN pollution dumping ground. Creating victims by shifting traffic from areas of high car ownership to roads where poorer people live is environmentally unjust.👇
@feckitdotcom @NickMGodwin@theJeremyVine But public transport should take priority VS all other types; because unlike the bicycle, it could benefit the whole society & reduce car ownership whilst increasing air quality. @TFL needs new leadership and councils need to take back control of their infrastructure decisions✌🏽
