@Heymoshimoshii You look like career librarian dyke that loves the benefits but hates working for the government and copes by cosplaying being high femme but secretly fixes motorcycles on weekends, addicted IPAs, and travels across state lines to beats up studs
Rejection of fact but rather an ignorance to what “biracial/black/etc could look like aside from what American media she may have seen. Idk why im typing all this out but yea my attempt at separating the two concepts. Both can be harmful sure but very different causes
There is a difference between racism based on stupidity and ignorance. That being said, really have hard time believing this grown ass man actually wasn’t aware that all people have red blood.
Further elaborating what I meant. Racism based in stupidity is ignoring logic or adherence to stereotypes that are obviously just that despite being around said people you continue to “other”. Ex white americans who find reason to hate black people
And it hit me that while in the states that would seem…off? I couldnt expect an 18yr old girl, in a country that hadnt had “regular” black visitors(usually students) since the Soviet era. Which ended before she was even born. Her confusion or assumptions were not based in a
I made this ignorance distinction in my mind in Lithuania when a friend of the friend I was visiting told me she was upset “ Our friend said his black friend was visiting, but you arent black, you are only kind of brown”
Another was me being in Lithuania visiting a friend. The only thing I was told about my skin tone(because nobody would assume I was half black even) was not to go by the train stations at night due to gang violence. And that I looked to similar to the romani people.
And while that example still has some racist undertones and motivations it was not to demean my friend. It may have been racist to treat someone that way but the intention was not to be harmful. It was done through curiosity from a lack of exposure to someone so different
What I did see was, on three separate occasions people walking up to him and just handing them their babies or small children. Just so they could take a picture. Not because it was funny, but because they had never seen someone like him and wanted proof for their children.
Racism based in ignorance. Best example I can give of is my time in Vietnam. I was traveling with a friend who is very dark skinned, has dreads, and is clearly west African by all perceptions. Nobody ever treated him unfairly, or acted differently to him than of others.
