I've been into self-driving cars since college. Just found this yesterday - a paper I wrote for my junior year tech writing class. If you want a resource who is familiar with the state-of-the-art (um, circa 1993), you know where to find me.
Had two serious FSD issues with a recent road trip. Both these issues happened several times, both are turn-signal related. This was all highway travel. FSD 14.3.6 @aelluswamy@Tesla_AI
I was on the highway in right-most lane, a new car joining/merging and FSD did not switch out of first lane nor did it slow down enough. I turned on left turn signal to switch lanes and it did not switch. Tried twice, nothing, had to disengage or would have hit merging car. I've experienced a few times in the past where I initiated a lane change by using turn signal at the exact same time as the car doing it and it cancels the FSD lane change and does nothing, which is disconcerting - I wonder if that's what happened here.
Also, I used the turn signal to switch 1 lane over but it decides to switch 2 total. I apply and hold turn signal and let go when car is 3/4 of the way into the new lane. The turn indicator / sound stops, the car completes the lane change BUT it keeps going into the next lane. No lane change sound playing but it continues to go into the new lane. What was scary here was the second time it did this there was a slower car in that far lane 2 lanes over and FSD wasn't slowing down.
Travel was otherwise flawless.
@DBurkland@teslaflexx Additional note: there was little traffic at that time but that doesn't mean the online data was bad with a long backup. HAHA, maybe I'm flipping to blame the online data now.
@DBurkland@teslaflexx Not sure; I'd guess routing engines. I had one especially bad issue - just take this left - and instead it went past and through a local neighborhood (and did that poorly). It had always been fine before and I don't think this was right after a map update, it was after 14.2.2.2.
@DBurkland I haven't actually seen that setting before; going to look for it and turn it off. Thanks for that!
If I could fix this and similar nav issues with a new setting it would be: "Stay on main route unless can save X minutes" and I'd set X to 10 for my car.
Using @GitHubCopilot CLI to quickly run the same exact prompt against different models is great for:
- honing your instructions, prompts, etc.
- burning through your premium requests. OUCH!
@SebastianCaliri Idea: create a company that makes housing fast! Humans still works the day shift, as do robots, but robots also work afternoons/nights/weekends/holidays. Produce affordable housing in a fraction of the time and cost.
Work with Elon now; Optimus could be helpful in 2 years...?
@WhamBaamX@Tesla Yikes, that was close! I've had a few instances where the A pillar blocked someone going in front of my car and man that is stressful; luckily no one was hurt.
