@esmelucy23@Pragjag@fesshole There’s a brickie, a mechanic, a copper, a Brigadier, a JP, an IFA, a pilot, an airport security chap, an estate agent and a publican among the many members of my Lodge.
They can all afford the £13 a month it costs to be a member.
@Pragjag@fesshole Fundamentally, it’s a charitable organisation. We fund things like lifeboats, air ambulances and send money to disaster areas.
Our meetings are held in a bizarrely arcane manner, combining a bit of amdram, choreography, symbolism and history, for no other reason than it’s fun.
@Pragjag@fesshole Unfortunately not the case. It’s made abundantly clear at your initial interview and on the application form that expecting advantages or “backscratching” is expressly not what it’s about.
