Last week, Michelle and I unveiled our official White House portraits by Robert McCurdy and Sharon Sprung. Take a look as we reflect on what that moment meant to us:
Authentic love isn't a fairy tale.
It's a journey you take. Authentic love will push you out of your comfort zone and force you to confront your wounds. It will require you to release all you know to embrace uncertainty and vulnerability.
PLEASE HEAR ME WHEN I SAY IT..if you see me engaging with ANYONE that supports your abusers or is your abuser, idc if you seen me return a compliment to them..tell me immediately.
The easiest part of the blessing is receiving while the hardest is maintaining. This is why the same God who blessed you, is the same God it will take to maintain the blessing.
Remember your source!~
Soulmates aren't only lovers – they're friends too. Your soulmates naturally recognize you, vibe with you & align with you. They understand you, appreciate you, support you, love you, heal with you & grow with you. They make you feel beautiful in your own skin just for being YOU.
I don’t want to ever lose God. As much as my relationship with him is shaky and strained, I’d rather lose any other thing but not God🥺🤍. Even when I feel like I’ve lost so much, been patient for so long and feeling super exhausted, I know he will restore it all.
I'm definitely high maintenance. And it's not changing coz I want what I want and I need what I need. The beauty of getting older is realizing that you absolutely cannot go through life dishonouring yourself esp for other people. And that your wants and needs can actually be met
And when you pray tonight…pray for the ability to give yourself credit. You’re honestly trying and that should never go unnoticed. Applaud yourself for how far you’ve come and prepare for the journey ahead.. it’s about to get really good. Stop being too hard on yourself.
"You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean in a drop." - Rumi
This quote is a reminder that you are unique and have valuable qualities and experiences that make you who you are. You don't need to be anyone else or try to fit a certain mold to be successful.
A huge part of honouring yourself, is acknowledging your emotions and letting yourself feel them.
Don’t ignore or invalidate your feelings. They are valid. They are the language your inner being uses to communicate with you.
There are spaces you put yourself in, relationships you maintain, solely because they feed the broken parts of you.
When you start to heal these parts of you and then go back to these spaces/relationships, you feel it, overwhelmingly, that you do not belong or fit in there.
Of all the things we do , what brings me greatest & deepest joy ,is being able to provide dignity to children &teachers in schools around Kenya . This is made possible by the generous donation of used pallets by organisations + individuals & then the purchase of the final desks .
