Every engineering student today in India , want's to become a Product Manager or a Consultant. I am very shocked to see that the bulk of the students do NOT want to pursue core-engineering careers. What is going on?

I have verified this personally , in my visits to multiple institutions of national importance in the last few months. Majority of the seniors across branches have acquired good jobs in the US and are guiding current generation of students to ditch core skills and double down on product management or management in general.

This is detrimental to every aspect of the country. You see the situation today right? Who is going to build the Anti-Air craft missiles , who is going to build the Communication links ? Who is going to work on engines ? Who will work on Materials , structures and dynamics?

If you're all just going to give up on your careers and choose a Non-core career at the end of day, better choose BBA in the first place and let the Engineering degrees be taken by dreamers , who want to engineer technology.

India needs core engineers today more than at any other time in the history. There is another revolution happening underneath our grounds and we need to be in the revolution and not loose it this time. The responsibility is equally on professors , students and parents to motivate and enable students to dream a career in Engineering.

Talk to industry , talk to mentors and put pressure on your colleges. If your colleges are not giving you enough core exposure, it is lazy on your management to not put the effort to mould you. Talk about it , demand it.

India needs Engineers of high quality. I am in touch with most of the deep-tech companies and every one is finding it difficult to hire good talent.

Why? Please think.

And congrats to the limited number of heroes who are setting an example by engineering technology from India. Please speak out. Motivate people.
